Inlite Studio is honored to present NightFlight, an evocative exhibition by the talented artist Janet Muir. This moving collection of work is deeply inspired by the Lake Ohau spring storm of October 4, 2020, which unleashed devastating fires, destroying 50 homes, including Janet’s. The aftermath of the fire and the uncertain fate of the native birds that once thrived in the area became the driving force behind this body of art.
In NightFlight, Janet explores the theme of nocturnal bird flight, symbolizing two paths: migration and escape. Birds take to the night sky to navigate by the stars or flee impending danger, in search of survival. Janet's reflection on this flight mirrors the human search for safety amidst chaos and calamity.
Through her work, Janet revisits memories of idyllic childhood days, from the beauty of nature to the simple joy of lying in fields of buttercups. Yet, within these peaceful moments lies a foreboding message—referencing the cry of the cuckoo, an omen of the fierce spring storm to come.
Join us as we witness this poignant tribute to survival, memory, and transformation, told through Janet’s masterful interpretation of nature and myth. The lighting in the gallery, featuring products from Orluna and Reggiani, has been carefully designed to enhance the emotional impact of each piece.
