Photography: South Drawn, Australia
Cloak began with an ambitious brief: to bring South Drawn's long standing material intelligence into a single form capable of belonging anywhere. From bathrooms, kitchens, outdoor walls, bedrooms and hallways, this collection carries no restrictions on where it belongs.
The result is a piece defined by what it doesn't show. There are no exposed fasteners, no unnecessary details. Every fixing point is absorbed into the form. Whilst the complexity is present, it simply isn't on display.
Achieving IP65 certification, whilst retaining the warmth of the hand formed artisan glass required the design and engineering to be developed together from the outset. The custom LED unit, the sealing system, and the mounting architecture were each resolved in parallel and informed each other.
Each glass panel is individually moulded by a Melbourne-based artisan. The natural result of the forming process means subtle shifts in profile and surface are present in every panel. No two are identical.
Cloak launches in two glass expressions: a ribbed finish with a structured, repeating formation; and a textured finish that comes directly off the kiln with a naturally irregular surface. Both are available in Bronze, Clear and Grey.
