UNSW Galleries / Benjamin Cisterne Design / Photography: Nicole England / INLITE worked closely with UNSW Galleries and lighting design firm Benjamin Cisterne Design to provide the best lighting solution in terms of upgrading the lighting to deliver high performance and high quality illumination whilst addressing certain design constraints within the existing gallery spaces. A combination of adjustable track lights specifically designed for exhibition and gallery applications were installed throughout. Engineered to reveal the true details and colours of artefacts and artworks these track lights are manufactured with high performance LEDs with a CRI of 95. Luminaires with a high colour rending index are optimal for gallery installations as they deliver pure, smooth and saturated light, amplifying the details and accurately depicting the colours of exhibits on display. Featuring a patented interchangeable principal lens, these track lights offer a large amount of flexibility as they can be fitted with a wide range of interchangeable optics including a narrow spot through to a wide flood along with elliptical and wall washing options. This is important when providing a lighting solution for an ever-changing environment such as a gallery. Sets of interchangeable lenses were supplied for the project, allowing the gallery to adjust the lighting to suit their constantly changing exhibitions. These specialised track lights are also equipped with on-board dimmers which allows each fixture to be controlled individually within the space. Working within the scope of the original architectural design and layout of the galleries, two sizes of track luminaires were utilised to combat the varied ceiling heights throughout. Large track lights with a high output were installed in areas where the ceilings were higher whilst lower output smaller track lights were installed in sections where the ceiling heights were lower. To allow UNSW Galleries to retain existing track configurations that were installed closer to the walls, the smaller track lights were also utilised here. All fixtures are 3000K in colour temperature and are finished in white to match the exisiting track and to blend in seamlessly with the gallery ceiling. // Products Featured: AKZU Tracron M4 20W + Tracron M3 12W Track Luminaires
